I enjoy the sport and suffering... because doped or not they feel just like I do when they give their all on a bike, I identify with that... and I enjoy the soap opera (dope opera) it's kind of a guilty pleasure. But it has taken a front seat to any accomplishments that happens. That I think saddens me most. However, in life you reap what you sew. That is the ugly two faced side of the sport that we'll have to deal with.TRI714https://www.blogger.com/profile/11903532062232095673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8850008492557142131.post-80719075738120809582011-08-04T09:42:23.643-07:002011-08-04T09:42:23.643-07:00While I understand not wanting Ian to go through i...While I understand not wanting Ian to go through it or have to teach him isn't that what we as parents are supposed to do? I tell Karen all the time that Chico's heroes should be us and not some dude on TV because they put their pants on one leg at a time just like us.

I hope that GC is clean as well as the sport needs a facelift and I think it CAN all start with one person (the team director) having a dream and pursuing it.

I am still a big baseball fan and I can't stand what Barry Bonds, Clemens and McGwire did to my beloved sport. It was the game I followed to a T when I was a kid and still love it to this day. It is a nerds game because its all numbers and while I could argue all day that they played in the same era with the same cheaters as those that played in the live ball era or the raised pitchers mound era and you need to compare apples to apples but baseball has never been that way. It has been comparing today to yesteryear.

OK, I've written enough. Go Team GC and hopefully one day I'll follow the sport more the way that you and Jeff seem to.Jasonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08914217156791555569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8850008492557142131.post-17317516974435089862011-08-04T06:43:33.379-07:002011-08-04T06:43:33.379-07:00Precisely why I am a fan of this team (though I wi...Precisely why I am a fan of this team (though I wish they still rode Felt bikes!). I watched the DVD Kovas mentions early on and really liked their approach. It's cool that while they are firmly anti-doping they also welcome a few former dopers looking to make a change. I was pulling for them throughout TdF and was thrilled with the start they had, not to mention winning the team competition. I hope more teams follow their example. Coincidentally, there's a local kid here (Daniel Parks, 15) who keeps crushing the fields (including P12 fields) and is on their development team.Tri4Successhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06956192345302508941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8850008492557142131.post-30079383827041090092011-08-04T05:59:00.231-07:002011-08-04T05:59:00.231-07:00Over the last couple of years I have become a cycl...Over the last couple of years I have become a cycling fan as well. So this post resonates with me as we share similar feelings and thoughts about the sport. Being a huge baseball fan too I have, sadly, become indifferent to doping allegations.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07061773215250783439noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8850008492557142131.post-12635421372511632112011-08-04T05:41:21.950-07:002011-08-04T05:41:21.950-07:00Great post and yes GUTS it does take! There's been a few incidents in running as well but I think because there is so much less money in running everything else is less as well. Let's keep hoping!Johannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17588120934444485158noreply@blogger.com
