Go Lite & the 4th Of July

I was lucky enough to win the Go Lite cap that Kovas from Midwest Multi-Sport Life gave away earlier this week.  The cap came today just in time for my run.  Mary had the day off and was coming along on her bike, so we where able to get a few photos of the Go Lite cap in action.

Today's run went much better than Wednesday, when I had a major bonk.  I got in a solid 8 miles, with negative splits to boot.

Nutrition (or lack thereof) was the problem Wednesday.  Today I had fuel in the tank, but instead was noticeably bloated all day.  Not to be completely disgusting, but the run was one long fart - my butt was barking every third stride like clockwork for over an hour.  Next week I'm starting a food diary.  I need to figure this out.

Anyway, Sunday is the 4th Of July.  And if you live in Southern California, you know that Huntington Beach will be a certified war zone.  Downtown will be crazy by 10 AM, and when it gets dark it might as well be the Do Long Bridge scene from Apocalypse Now.

There has been a trailer mounted LED road sign parked on Beach Blvd all week that reads "Fireworks Prohibited in HB".  Every time I've passed it, I've had to fight the urge to not jump out of the car and reprogram it to add the words "my ass" to the end.  There are probably enough explosive devices in the city right now to support the invasion of a medium sized country.  And they are ALL going to go off on the 4th.

I would normally go for a long ride down the coast on Sunday, but I'm not sure if I'm going to go this week.  Traffic will be bad.  The out-of-towners will be on a rampage.  Everyone will be drunk.  Don't get me wrong, I've got no problem with the holiday.  But for some reason it seems that everyone who heads into Huntington on the 4th thinks that a one day pass to be a complete dick-hole comes with the parking fee.  Swimming won't be much better.  So I'll either find someplace quiet to run or hide under a rock.

That said, I hope everyone has a great holiday!

Glad the cap helped with your run, unless it was your newfound jetpower! Cap looks great. Enjoy the holiday weekend.

Good luck in the holiday wat zone.

I'll get my workouts in early this weekend hoping for the quiet zone between when the festivistas go to sleep after partying all night and they next round start for the next day. For example, this morning's ride started at 6:00, ended at 7:30.

One Long farrrt HAAAA HAAA HAAA, sorry eh phew. ok.
Yes, HB goes OFF, off like-whoa Nelly off. On my side of town they already have the road closure barricades set up to block the streets (that lead to Ocean St.)
FOr a minute I got all excited I figured maybe it was for the LB Marathon, then I realized we are in July..
Glad your run went much better! Have a great weekend!

Nice hat. Looks great. Have a great 4th of July. It sounds interesting...

We are working a fireworks stand, no 4th here. Worked 12 1/2 hours today. Left the building twice. (Once for a Coke and once for a Sprite) Will also work on food next week, as you are.

Will blog on the week's events after it's over. And I'm over it.

I didn't see any photos of people lying on the floor behind you passed out from your gas explosion :)

The cap looks great on.

I always balme it on the California Barking Spiders that are obviously hidden in the bushes.

Nice run and way to adjust!
