I wasn't looking, at least not in the short term. I was thinking about getting a new road frameset sometime next year. But this weekend I stumbled upon a deal too good to pass up.
I just got my hands on a Bianchi Mono-Q frame set with Shimano 105 components. And it's exactly what I was looking for.
- I was looking for a European designed frame.
- I wanted a mid-line carbon frame - light, but not as stiff as a true racing frame.
- I wanted Shimano 105 components. Since 105's are not designed for racing, I think they shift a little smoother than Ultegra. This is the bike I'll go to when I want to go out and ride.
Here are some pictures:
Hopefully I can get it out on the road today. As you can see the living room remodel has stalled a bit...

gotta love bike porn after lunch, she is a beauty
though I have to respectfully disagree with you on the 105 vs ultergra part
Very nice. Love the classic Bianchi color/look
very nice!
OK BDD comment cracks me up.
It is PRETTY sweet must agree with that. But bike porn?! ;) hilarious. Enjoy the ride!!
nice! I like when a 'deal to good to pass' comes along! Thanks for the T-shirt! got it last Friday
Bike porn indeed haha!
Your house is looking like mine now... when the season started all home remodel money went towards gear... sigh. Someday I will finish the basement.
Can't wait to hear how she handles!
Very nice...and you can't pass up a good deal on that. The living room will still be there and you can focus on that during the off season
Beauty - I like how they modernized the graphics and overall look but kept that Bianchi blue. Good riding to you!
Woohoo on getting a new bike! Some deals are just too good to pass up! :)
Now here's a question: why do Ultegra components (designed for racing) not shift as well as 105s? You'd think you'd want easy shifting in higher quality components...
I liken the Ultegra v 105's to a stick shift in a sports car v sedan. Sports car shifting is a bit more twitchy. That said I use aero bar end shifters with my ultegra components maybe that's a difference too.
I LOVE Bianchis, great bike!, congratulations.
A true beauty!
Yay for my t-shirt :)
That will be sweet ride. Have fun. And I have to agree with the 105's. My new Cannondale has that componentry.
Damn you Bianchi for making such eye pleasing rides.. Damn you....
This is how it works right? You debate making a big purchase, then you make a final decision, then something like a GOOD deal, creeps right up and smacks ya on the back of the head and leaves you no chance but to partake in the goodness...
Nice Bike! I am thinking abut jumping into triathlons after my next marathon.
She sure is purty!
BTW...do you still have free shirts?
Yea for new bikes!!! I have 105 components too, work just fine. Have fun taking the new baby out!
looks tight! my race on Saturday was full of unreal Tri bikes (obviously) but it was a Bianchi Road bike with aero bars and a bearded dude hammering away that I was trying to pace with for quite a while...looked really similar.
-D
The colors are cool...so different from most of the road bikes I see.
