I'm sick. Actually I've been sick since last Thursday night, but it was pretty manageable and I was able to keep my training up. Then this afternoon, it took a turn for the worse.
Fever? Not really. I'm just really congested and feel really blah. I'm thinking finish this post, then bed. That sounds like a reasonable plan, right? I'll get a ton of rest tonight and take it easy tomorrow. There's always another day.
Well, my unreasonable side is coming out as well. It's saying to me (with a hacking cough) "Come on you pansy, keep the training up!". Even though I know my unreasonable side is wrong, I can't help but listen a little. And as my head throbs and I keep sneeze, I am also dealing with guilt.
Forget being sick, the guilt I'm feeling is way more more unhealthy. Man, I can't win.
Anyhow, that's where I'm at. I just had to write it down real quick. Now I'm off to bed.

Get better dude. Oh, and I know that guilt - stupid devil on your shoulder telling you should train when the angel on the other shoulder tells you you need rest. You're right, we can never win. Rest up, drink up (water that is) and you'll be better in no time.
try HTFU pills. LOL!, seriously, tho, rest and rest a bit more you're not racing till... next year? no need to push it
It's more like,"Hey Pansy get your ass in bed and get better!"
Cheers!
sucks man. I feel your unreasonable side... I think that is part of being a male haha!
Take some time off and let your body recover, better than having a crappy workout and then beating yourself up over it.
Hope you feel better soon!
Haha - yep just pulled thru that same thing two wks ago - get better
D
Darn! I hope you get better soon!
Feel better!! Rest is more important--you're not a pansy (yet... Haha. Don't milk it.)
First off that is the best self portrait pic of you yet! Man that iPhone takes good pics!
Take the rest. I haven't been doing much of anything since my last race and my body is starting to feel fantastic. I am going to start some p90x today and just do a weekend long run and ride until IM training begins in Dec! Try the rest PArtick - you'll come out of it feeling even stronger!
Suck it up Buttercup.
Feel better Patrick! Rest is the BEST medicine. Try to knock out the guilt with some Tylenol PM and sleep sleep sleep. You will be better soon and back up to training!
CRAP - freaking Kovas took my line.
SUCK IT UP SNOTOPOTOMOUS.
joke.
Rest, relax, drink the kool-aide & watch Batman.
GET BETTER!!
Rest well and get better! Your body will be grateful for the break from training as well.
Maybe just do some situps in bed? Fee better soon!
Get better. That's the PC comment. Now for the not PC comment...pull up your big girl pants and go to work. Kidding - being sick sucks. Hopefully you'll feel better soon. Better to take care of yourself now and come back strong than to let it keep you down for too long.
Dude, you have put in some miles. And you will recover quicker if you throw ALL the brakes on for a day or so. Don't be a douche and get all mentally tough. You wan't to loose all that effort you've put out ? Just train through it and we'll be having this same conversation next Wednesday also.
p.s thanks for the e-mail reply.
Stay in bed and rest up!
I always feel like I want to sweat out all the sick germs...which never really works. Hope you're feeling better!!!!
uh-oh! get well soon! load up on the vit C and lots of fluids =)
I'm sorry you're sick! That sucks! I hope you feel better soon!
Get soem rest and feel better soon. I understand the feeling of internal dilema.
Yuck, my allergies have been killing me. I know it is effecting a lot of people. I am wheezing when I run and swimming with congestion just sucks. But the guilt is so much worse, you can't take a pill for that. Or maybe you can...
Look at the bright side....all that core work that may get skipped is no longer getting skipped with every cough, hack, wheeze and sneeze.
Feel better and quickly.
Ugh, I feel for ya. I've been down for two weeks with this #@$% cold. I feel better today so I think I'm on the upswing. I hope so - I want to start training for my 5K soon!
What's the saying? "If it's in your chest, take a rest"?
Hope you're feeling better!
