Some Photos For Friday

I was biding my time on Google Images and thought I'd share a few pictures I thought where cool:

Surf City Marathon runners:  It wasn't too long ago where this oceanside course wasn't quite as scenic.  I'm guessing this was taken looking north near Seacliff, where you turned inland towards the park.

Once upon a time, there where no carbon frames and the tarmac was terrible.  Apparently no one had thought of saddle bags yet either given these guys have extra tires draped around their torsos.  Tough looking?  Perhaps.  But clearly not aero.

The original speed suit.  I know there looks like there is a chamois pad in the crotch, but sadly I'd guess that's not the case.

A Lockheed Constellation flying over Manhattan in the 1930's.  There is something about this plane that has always caught my eye.

Dork alert, I've always had a thing for abandoned railroads.

Still one of my favorite places on Earth - The ridge of the Presidential Range, White Mts. New Hampshire.

Oooh, I thought we had it bad in college with the speed suits we had to wear for indoor track. This one is much worse. :)

He is quite proud of his "speed suit!"

I love old coastal pictures, and I can waste allot of time in shops and restraunts when there present. Those cyclist had the right idea with the hydration systems up front though. Again not very aero but as shown today, clearly functional.

Very cool shots - growing up in HB I always thought the oil pumps were so dangerous looking, kind of funny in retrospect. Too bad the Spruce Goose left SoCal, always thought that was an amazing plane.

I have always loved aerial photos of Manhattan, especially now that I have moved away from what was home for 34 years.

Thanks for the reminder of the beauty of the City That Never Sleeps.

Wow! Thanks for sharing! Love the mountains, hate the speed suit! The plane is awesome! The B52 has always caught my eye, I think it is so sleek and sexy! grrr.....

Wait, I lied...the B1, not the 52...B1 is way sleeker! =)

A full mustache is required to pull off that speed suit.

Hey Patrick! I find it interesting that if I disagree with an article (that wasn't even written by the author of the blog) that it's considered VITRIOL and that I am WRONG in my opinion and have to be taught (by you I am assuming) on how to disagree. Hmmm....
ok.
I have only commented on Ryan's site a couple of times...not that interested in re-hash of re-hash and pictures of a slow runner/triathlete. (ego?)
If I didn't commment...he would have only one or two. At least I keep things interesting. Somewhat. Have a great day, weekend, month, year, race season, life!

Cheryl, I think almost anyone welcomes critical comments, I just find yours to be harsher than necessary. Bring it down a bit and I have no doubt you have good things to say.

BTW the comment you left here, totally fine.

Best

Looks like your junk was just out there in the old days too.

That first picture is crazy. I'll keep my eyes out for abaondoned railroad tracks for you.

Are those oil pumps out there by the beach or some sort of utility posts? That's just crazy! My son would LOVE that plane picture, he is a fanatic wannabe pilot. And mountain climber.

So happy I am not forced to look at people in those "speed suits". It would make race day far less enjoyable.

Any exciting weekend plans? Bike? Run? I wish I could run but my feet are still healing. Skin tears, ick.

Awesome pics, but glad that we've moved on. Am I the only one who looked at the speed suit guy and immediately thought of David Bowie in the Labyrinth? Yeah. Progress is good.

The change in clothing, more than the change in tools, over the past 100 years absolutely amazes me.
Love the mountains of New Hampshire. Hubs and I use to climb their before kids; now, I can't wait until their old enough to come along.
