How Tough Are We, Really?

So you run 100 Mile ultra-marathons.  Or you knock off 140.6 miles a couple Saturdays a year.  Or you ride your bike so hard that the only way to ease the pain is ride harder.  Or you swim from one point of land to another in shark infested waters.

This, of course, is on top of hours and hours of training every week.  Many say that the training is the most demanding part, both mentally and physically.  I will be propelling myself forward either by swimming, biking or running over 500 hours this year.  That's almost 3 weeks straight, 24 hours a day.  Many of you will do more.

Most would say this makes us tough.  I say this only maybe makes us tough.  Because I don't think any of us have fielded a team for the Pillow Fight World Cup in New York City on May 17th.

It's Sweden vs. Austria vs. the US vs. Lord knows who else.  This is going to be brutal.

Just when you thought it was safe to pull on a new set of 2XU compression tights and call it a day with a low fat protein shake, someone's coming up behind you to challenge your toughness.  Damn.

And the kicker?  My guess is that these bad boys and girls train less than 1/10th the time we do.  Toughness for these guys is a gift.

I can run for hours upon end, but don't know if I can hang with these badasses.

I can only imagine the rules but it might be one of those "if you need to ask the rules, you aren't ready for the featherweight division."

Cats out of the bag - sponsorship by Serta and the goose down federation; I'm headed for the solo ultra pillow fighting Worlds in early December.

We need an endurance blogger team in this. We'd crush these lightweights!

Definately not tough on this end. No way. First hit to the head and I'm on the ground weeping. Still, very interesting post. : )

I totally think I have what it takes to win this. I see a new endurance event in my future.

There's a buckle, right?!

I would be interested in watching if the women wore a bikini. Or Kovas.
