The Zen of Jellybeans & Secret Files

You want to make the miles fly by on your next long run?  Well, all you need to do is grab a package of Jelly Belly Sport Beans and hit the road with this fun new game.

It's really easy to play - pop a bean in your mouth and start running.  The object is to run as far as you can before the bean completely melts in your mouth.  After mastering the quarter mile and then conquering the half, I tried for THE MILE.  But as hard as I tried, the best I managed was just under three quarters of a mile.  I've got some work to do in terms of perfecting the right way to slow down the melting.  I have some ideas.

By the way, I don't know if the Sport Bean's nutritional benefits are mitigated by a time release, so I can't recommend this game as an alternative to proper fueling.

My next goal is to perfect the melting technique and then turn the game on it's head by using a foam roller to roll out my legs for the entire time it takes me to eat a bean...

Has anyone out there worked at an election polling place?  While I was waiting in line to vote I saw a sky blue folder laying out on a counter marked "Secrecy File".  I'm not sure why you would mark a secret folder in a 48 point bold font and then leave it out for everyone to see, but now that I know about it I'd love to know what it's for....

Ha ha..that sounds like a fun game with the sport beans. I actually use those from time to time to mix things up with my nutrition on a long run/ride. But, they are too sweet for me to eat the whole bag!

Hmmm nice game. I don't know anything about the "secrecy file" but was a state delegate one year and that was when I came to realize why government wastes so much time and money. I could of done in 10 minutes what it takes those people to do in hours. Fun times.

I tried sport beans, once. maybe I now have a reason to have a go at it again. I used that game with shot-blocks once, it wasn't intentional though, it literally took me 20 minutes to dislodge the stuff from my back molars. Cheers!

Great idea for the foam roller actually, would get me to roll longer?

The file at the polling location was a trick to see who would try and open it

I like this game. I've been trying a similar game with little bite-size Wonderbars...

That is like the how many like to get to the center of a tootsie pop game! Nice distraction on the run -- before you know it your workout is over!

Dude, once again the folks in CA have dropped the ball. Shouldn't be surprised.

The Secret File was clearly the secret formula for making the Sport Beans last longer. So close...

Secret file was a test to see who would chance it and open it you missed the grand prize

I like the foam roller jelly bean excercise....will make me do it longer!

I LOVE sport beans!! Can't eat the whole bag though. I'll have to try your game - I usually have to walk while chewing them so I don't bite my tongue.

Sounds like a fun game! I love Sport Beans!!!

Bleck to sport beans!! Except for the fruit punch flavor! those I can handle. I cannot seem to chew them and run at the same time. See I do Cliff Shot bloks so you can chew and swallow!! Ha ha!!

Once I make myself get on the foam roller I don't need to be bribed into staying there. Im weird and love that kind of pain... I'm also weird in that I love run/Tri food like sport beans as gu... So many people seem to be grossed out by them but I could live off it.

I was actually "rolling" (on a tennis ball) at barnes and noble over lunch. My butt has been a little funny feeling/numb since so I'm wondering if I sat on the ball too long/slightly wrong...

I like my sports beans, and although it takes too much brain power to chew them... I think holding them in my mouth would just lead to my accidentally choking myself on one. That's really not the way I want to go down in a race!

This is for sure something Emz would do.

I do this currently with minty life savers [ya, waaaaaaaaay bigger]. I'm up to 1.25 miles but they make the skin on the roof of my mouth hurt something fierce/feirce?. too lazy to spell check - shoot me.

Love the secrecy folder! Maybe they had a hidden camera to see who would look at it!

I get annoyed after the first minute and chew them, not sure I am cut for endurance jelly bean licking

Well Patrick, looks like you need to work on your sucking skills. I just discovered the foam roller a few months ago. I love/hate it.

Maybe there was some sort of plan to manipulate the polls in the folder. I'm going to have to try the jelly bean run game - it's gotta make the miles click by faster!
